Writing in late 2026, I’ve forgotten many of the details about this concert. What I do recall is polished and charming playing from Lisiecki, as always—despite the tough acoustic setup in the Royal Albert Hall—and a rousing performance of the Enigma led by Elim Chan. I am always impressed when conductors manage to draw an inspired performance out of an orchestra that has performed the same piece dozens if not hundreds of times, and Chan managed to do just that. San Francisco is lucky to have her.
